This is part of a series of talks intended to introduce the concept of a frame for a Banach space. Since a frame for a Hilbert space is a generalization of an orthonormal basis for it, we start by looking at bases for Banach spaces. It turns out that general bases may exhibit undesirable behaviors, so we concentrate on the unconditional ones: that is, the ones that are not affected by permutations.
